Bring in the New

Have you ever seen a Saguaro Cactus?  Have you ever seen one moved?  Our neighbor started the year out by selling his cactus to the highest bidder.  This is what we watched the day they came to pick up their incredible purchase.

We started our new year with a very special trip to the Tucson Temple.  This was Matthew's first trip and it was very special to us all.  Grandma was in town and stayed home with Lois.  Hence, Nato and Robin both got to go with the six oldest children to do baptisms for the dead.  What a sweet spirit to see them all in white and watch them help one another.  This was the first time that Benjamin was authorized to perform the baptizing and it was so sweet to witness Jake and Benjamin baptize their siblings and each other for some of our very own ancestors.  I am grateful that families are forever!
Jane and Emma both received sewing machines for Christmas.  We spent many days in January learning all about sewing.  First we made covers for all the machines, complete with pockets to hold all the cords and foot pedals.
Next Grandma and Robin experimented with some cute fabrics to help teach Jane the art of strip quilting.
Jane made her own quilt to snuggle with at night.  This we quilted with the "international stitch."  It was a cute and quick way to tie a quilt together.  She just has to finish the binding and she can add it to her bed!
Grandma and Robin couldn't stop piecing quilts!  There were a couple extra tops finished before the month was out.  It is a little addicting.
