April - Better Late Than Never

This month started with a bang! A couple years ago Jacob insisted that we celebrate his Teddy Bears birthday on April 2nd. We did it once and he has never forgotten. Why April 2nd? He just picked that day and as April 2nd approach this year we not only had Jacob requesting birthday fare, but we started to hear Emma and Benjamin planning out birthdays for many more animals and friends in the house on several different days. So to alleviate all the expectations and possible work entailed in celebrating birthdays for every creature, Robin wokeearly on the morning of April 2nd and made some special muffins and blew up balloons and informed EVERYONE that this was the ONLY day we would celebrate birthdays for our "friends." Each person got to pick one "friend" and we had a great birthday breakfast complete with lit candles for all to blow and as much birthday fun you can pack into 1 1/2 hours.
Easter was a fun weekend. Between conference sessions we managed to find some eggs and enjoy this special holiday.
The kids had fun finding eggs. We gave each child a color they could hunt for to make sure that everyone ends up with equal amounts of fun.
Benjamin caught on to the idea very well.
Philip was reluctant to put eggs in his basket at first. But after everyone was done hunting. . .
He decided to dump out all of his eggs and do it again. And then AGAIN.
Finally Nato showed him that there was candy inside for eating,
And then he gladly went into the house.
Sunday morning was great, but we are finding that our family photos are becoming more and more wiggly.

We also had a TON of fun in science this month. Thanks to Aunt Ina who showed us how to make gummy worms grow.
And how to get the "S's" on skittles to float off of the candy.
Even Philip enjoyed our little experiments.
At the end of the month Jacob made a new friend. This is Dave. Dave was constructed completely by Jacob with boxes and tape. Dave can maneuver around, and talk with the help of Jacob. We are not sure where the idea of Dave came from, but he has been a pretty funny friend to have in the house, and Jacob just loves that he created him, by himself.

What great ideas for science fun, plus the kids are looking so cute in their Easter photos! And I cannot imagine trying to get all of them to hold still for pictures, because I can barely manage getting THREE kids here to do it, so I think you're doing great with the great pictures you always get!

We totally agree that we need to see you guys soon. If we don't meet up in Utah, then you guys are always welcome to come up and visit us up here! We could be really cozy and visit all sorts of great historical places! We miss you all!
