Did I mention we have seen a few Cathedrals since we have come here? On our way back home from our trip to Western Germany/Belgium/Luxembourg we really wanted to stop here in Aachen. Boy are we glad we did. This Cathedral is the place where 30 Kings and 12 Queens of Germany, including Charlemagne, were crowned.
Every surface seemed to have a golden touch to it.
Almost as if Midas himself came here for a visit.
Charlemange's remains (say that ten times fast) are here as well in a golden box.
It was really pretty inside. Not "gothic" or just "old"like so many we have seen.
This is a miniature of the Cathedral they have on display.
Just FYI:
The front door has two lion head knockers. The one on the right has "Satan's thumb" in his mouth. At least that is what we were told.
Smile!
